Another pretender to D&Ds throne using a percentile system the same as Call of Cthulhu , and actually preceeding it This fantasy game is regarded by many to be the best but is seldom played these days due to being out-of-print for some considerable time . Its in-house setting of Glorantha was finely detailed (if a bit twee) and it could be very deadly . Unlike D&D/AD&D combat was very dangerous & one hit could easily kill off the character you had lovingly played for several years . Its high point came in the 80`s with releases such as Big Rubble , Pavis & Borderlands . Another advantage with this system was that it could be easily mixed with the other Chaosium games such as Call of Cthulhu , Superworld , Ringworld ,etc. to create a very unusual gaming environment . Its decline began after it was published by Avalon Hill . Although the releases were good there were far too few of them and they were not quite of the same quality as the Chaosium productions - sorry guys that had to be said !
