Dungeons & Dragons (TSR)

d&d.jpg (21695 bytes) The grand-daddy of them all from 1974 (although Chainmail was its predecessor) written by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson . It featured a set of B5 sized booklets covering character creation, eldrich wizardry & the Campaign setting of Blackmoor . It also was the first game to use the odd shaped dice - 20 , 12 , 10 , 8 & 4 sided variety as well as the standard 6 sided . The game allowed you to play Fighters, Clerics , Thieves , Magic Users , Elves (which were a combination of fighters & magic users) , Dwarves (fighters with extra abilities) & Halflings (specialist thieves). A fabled item amongst players & much talked about is the boxed set of this game in its original small book format - it does exist , I know ,cos I owned it ! .
